Properties:The drug has an antiseptic effect. Effective against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria (including Treponema spp., Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Chlamydia spp.), viruses and fungi.Depending on the concentration used, it exhibits a bacteriostatic or bactericidal effect against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. Bacteriostatic effect is manifested in a concentration of 0.01% or less; bactericidal - at a concentration of more than 0.01% at a temperature of 22 °C and exposure for 1 minute.

Fungicidal action - at a concentration of 0.05%, a temperature of 22 ° C and exposure for 10 minutes.Cleanses and disinfects the skin without damaging it. Retains activity (although somewhat reduced) in the presence of blood, pus, various secrets and organic matter.

Long-term use of chlorhexidine does not disturb the local microbial ecosystem, does not lead to the development of superinfection and does not affect the emergence of drug-resistant pathogenic bacteria.
